Position: Group Sales Trainee (Spring Internship)

Job Summary:

This position will serve in a support role in the sales of group tickets, and servicing current accounts as well as new clients. The daily responsibilities include accurate and effective communication with customers and prospects, following established procedures with box office interaction and generating timely and accurate reports to management. This position reports directly to the Groups Sales Director.

Qualifications:
  • Trainees must be students of an accredited college or university and must receive credit for completion of this trainee program
  • Must be high energy, detailed oriented individuals
  • Must have a passion for learning the business of baseball
Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Aggressive telemarketing - 90% telephone sales
  • Assist group sales database management and maintenance
  • Assist with follow up phone calls, lead generation, event coordination, and servicing of clients
  • Processing group event orders and mailing group event packages to clients
  • All other duties assigned by the group sales director
Compensation Package:
$500 per month plus Housing; additional compensation (commission on sales)

Position: Ticket Sales Trainee (Spring Internship)

Position: Sales & Marketing Trainee (Spring Internship)

Position: Media & PR Assistant (Spring Internship)

Job Summary:
This position will serve in a support role in the areas of media and public relations. The daily responsibilities include accurate and effective communication with media outlets, customers and prospects and following established procedures with the press box. Some Sales are required, and Intern will assist in Press Box management during season. This position reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Position: Operations Assistant (Spring Internship)

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
This position will serve in a support role in the operation of Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field in beautiful Salem, VA. Responsibilities include: Stadium setup, break down, and coordination for game day events; Scheduling and operation of various special and outside events; Assistance with scheduling, training, and supervision of all game day employees; Coordinating special stadium events, team functions, mascot appearances, charity events and theme nights; Responsible for making sales calls for sale of season tickets, mini plans, group outings, birthday parties, little league events, fundraisers, etc; General activities to facilitate daily business operations; Assisting departments heads with daily activities, data base management, and special projects as requested or needed; Other duties as assigned.

Position: Concessions Assistant (Spring Internship)

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
This position will serve in a support role in the food and beverage operation of Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field in beautiful Salem, VA. Responsibilities include: Assist in supervision of all aspects and areas of Food Service and catering for the Salem Avalanche; Facility includes 6,300 seats, 10 Suites and Multiple Picnic / Party areas; Daily stocking of all concession stands to proper par levels; Assist in Menu development; Assist in receiving, inventorying and storage of all deliveries from all F&B purveyors; Working within an established budget and assisting Director in managing key cost areas including (but not limited to) food cost and labor; Pre-game inventory in all concession stands; Post-game storage of all removable inventory; “Closing out” all Suite Tabs nightly, or delivering reports for proper invoicing based on each Suite’s specific negotiated Food Service policy; Payroll tabulation and reporting to Director of Finance; Hands-on working manager during games; Other Duties as assigned.

Position: Grounds Crew Assistant (Spring Internship)

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
This position will assist in all aspects of maintaining a professional baseball field.  The assistant will be trained to perform all tasks related to taking care of the field to a professional standard.  Due to the limited number of our staff, the assistant will be required to accept much more responsibility than they would on a bigger staff.  That means that they will get a more hands on approach to everything that goes into the upkeep of the field.  The assistant will also learn about the importance of communicating with front office staff, coaching staff, umpires, players, and fans.  At the conclusion of the season the assistant will have gained a good foundation of the operations of a successful grounds crew.
