Salem, VA (September 19, 2008) — The Salem Avalanche announced today the signing of a two-year Player Development Contract (PDC) with the 2007 World Champion Boston Red Sox. The team will take the field in April 2009 as the Red Sox’ Advanced Class-A affiliate when the club opens its 42nd season of play in the Carolina League.
